The Client

Issyinks is a Manchester based tattoo artist working in fine line black and white. His influences lean heavily into Japanese art, and that comes through in everything he does, not just the tattoos but the studio itself. Every piece of artwork on the walls is his. He painted it all. Walking into the space already tells you exactly who you're dealing with before anyone's picked up a needle.

What We Were There to Capture

Fine line work is all about detail. The kind of detail that gets lost if you're not paying attention to how you shoot it. We needed to get close, find the right light, and let the work speak for itself without overcomplicating it.

But it wasn't just about the tattoos. The studio is part of the story. High end, considered, covered in original art that he created himself. We wanted people watching to feel the atmosphere of the place, the kind of environment where the work that happens inside it makes complete sense.

How We Work

With something like this the visuals carry everything. We didn't need to dress it up or force a narrative. We just needed to shoot it properly, treat the detail with the respect it deserved and let Issy's work do the rest.
